Honeywell XNX XNX-AMSV-RNCB1 – MPD catalytic 0–100 %LEL, mV, ATEX, 316SS, M25

XNX-AMSV-RNCB1 is a factory-configured Honeywell XNX gas detector: mV personality, MPD catalytic bead 0–100 %LEL, ATEX / IECEx (INMETRO on selected MPD SKUs), 4 × M25, 316 stainless steel, 3 relays + 4–20 mA HART, no local HART port. Specify it for mixed hydrocarbon LEL points where infrared windows would fog or the stream is not methane/propane-specific.

Why this personality / sensor

A poison-resistant MPD pellistor sees combustion heat across a wide hydrocarbon mix, including species an IR filter misses. It needs oxygen and hates silicones. Mount above light-gas releases and below heavy vapours; keep silicone sealants off the sinter.

Personality and replaceable parts

XNX-AMSV-RNCB1 uses the mV personality (MPD catalytic / MPD IR) board and mates with Honeywell MPD catalytic bead or MPD infrared sensors. Factory-fitted with MPD catalytic 0–100 %LEL. Spares live on product-3991. Do not substitute Sensepoint XCD cartridges on XNX.

Typical applications

Pump rooms, filling gantries and compressor packages still standardise on catalytic LEL because the gas slate is mixed. XNX holds 4–20 mA HART into the ESD matrix; magnetic non-intrusive calibration keeps the flameproof lid closed.

Installation and wiring

Wall-mount XNX-AMSV-RNCB1 (316 stainless steel, approx. 5.0 kg) on a rigid stand sized for that mass. This SKU uses 4 × M25 entries—glands must match; do not retap XNX-AMSV-RNCB1. Land XNX-AMSV-RNCB1 4–20 mA HART per the loop drawing; relays/Modbus/FFB exist only on the matching option board. Magnetic-wand menus on the XNX-AMSV-RNCB1 lid stay non-intrusive. Keep silicones off the XNX-AMSV-RNCB1 pellistor; light hydrocarbons high, heavy vapours low.

FAQ

Will silicone vapours kill the XNX-AMSV-RNCB1 pellistor?
Yes. Silicones and chlorinated solvents poison the MPD catalytic bead on XNX-AMSV-RNCB1. Specify IV1/IF1 infrared if those contaminants are routine.
What bump-test gas should I use on XNX-AMSV-RNCB1?
Use the target hydrocarbon at 50 %LEL. Methane-only test gas will under-state response if the process is petrol vapour.
Why is XNX-AMSV-RNCB1 316SS instead of aluminium?
XNX-AMSV-RNCB1 is the marine/sour-service body (~5 kg). Inland dry rooms can take aluminium sibling XNX-AMAV-RNCB1 and save mass on the bracket.
Can I convert XNX-AMSV-RNCB1 from ATEX M25 to NPT in the field?
No. XNX-AMSV-RNCB1 flameproof entries are machined M25. North-American NPT is UL sibling XNX-UTSV-RNCB1, not an adaptor on this ATEX body.
What do the three relays on XNX-AMSV-RNCB1 do?
XNX-AMSV-RNCB1 adds three configurable relays on top of 4–20 mA HART—typically A1/A2/fault. It is not Modbus; bus siblings are XNX-AMSV-MNCB1 / XNX-AMSV-FNCB1.
