Honeywell XNX XNX-UTSV-NNNNN – no sensor (transmitter body), mV, UL, 316SS, 3/4" NPT
XNX-UTSV-NNNNN is a Honeywell XNX universal transmitter body with the mV personality, UL / cUL, 4 × 3/4" NPT entries, 316 stainless steel, 4–20 mA HART only (no option board), no local HART port, and no MPD sensor in the carton. Order it when the field later fits an MPD catalytic or MPD IR head (CB1 / IV1 / IF1 / IC1) instead of a factory-configured detector.
Same sensor, swap enclosure/approval: aluminium XNX-UTAV-NNNNN, 316SS XNX-UTSV-NNNNN, other approval XNX-AMSV-NNNNN. XNX-UTAV-NNNNN · XNX-UTSV-NNNNN · XNX-AMSV-NNNNN

Why this personality / sensor
The mV personality is the millivolt interface for Honeywell MPD heads. Catalytic and MPD IR share that board; an IR Optima/Excel head will not talk to this SKU, and an electrochemical cell needs the EC personality. Buy a body when the sensor slate is still open or when you stock transmitters separately from MPD cartridges.
Personality and replaceable parts
XNX-UTSV-NNNNN uses the mV personality (MPD catalytic / MPD IR) board and mates with Honeywell MPD catalytic bead or MPD infrared sensors. This SKU ships without a sensor; order the head by gas. Spares live on product-3991. Do not substitute Sensepoint XCD cartridges on XNX.
Typical applications
Typical body SKUs sit in a warehouse next to mixed MPD stock: pump rooms that may take catalytic LEL, biogas roofs that need methane IR, LPG pits that need propane IR, and inerting cabinets that need CO₂. The transmitter is already certified and threaded; you only mate the MPD later.

Installation and wiring
Wall-mount XNX-UTSV-NNNNN (316 stainless steel, approx. 5.0 kg) on a rigid stand sized for that mass. This SKU uses 4 × 3/4" NPT entries—glands must match; do not retap XNX-UTSV-NNNNN. Land XNX-UTSV-NNNNN 4–20 mA HART per the loop drawing; relays/Modbus/FFB exist only on the matching option board. Magnetic-wand menus on the XNX-UTSV-NNNNN lid stay non-intrusive. XNX-UTSV-NNNNN is a body: wall-mount the transmitter first and mate the head after the personality is confirmed—do not buy a configured SKU until the gas is frozen.
FAQ
- Can I add an MPD sensor to XNX-UTSV-NNNNN later?
- XNX-UTSV-NNNNN ships as a transmitter body. mV personalities accept MPD CB1/IV1/IF1/IC1 heads; IR personalities need Optima/Excel; EC personalities need XNX electrochemical cells. Do not mix those three families on this board.
- Is XNX-UTSV-NNNNN a complete gas detector?
- No. XNX-UTSV-NNNNN is electronics and enclosure only. A configured detector has a three-character sensor code such as CB1 instead of NNN.
- Why is XNX-UTSV-NNNNN 316SS instead of aluminium?
- XNX-UTSV-NNNNN is the marine/sour-service body (~5 kg). Inland dry rooms can take aluminium sibling XNX-UTAV-NNNNN and save mass on the bracket.
- Why is XNX-UTSV-NNNNN NPT instead of M25?
- XNX-UTSV-NNNNN is the UL/cUL body and ships 3/4" NPT. Do not tap M25 on this lid—order ATEX sibling XNX-AMSV-NNNNN if metric glands are mandatory.
- Does XNX-UTSV-NNNNN include alarm relays?
- No. XNX-UTSV-NNNNN is 4–20 mA HART only. Local trip contacts need option-R sibling XNX-UTSV-RNNNN; plant-bus needs Modbus XNX-UTSV-MNNNN or Foundation Fieldbus XNX-UTSV-FNNNN.
